Hopper OS Acquires Caro Health

Acquisition strengthens Hopper OS’s international footprint and advances conversational AI capabilities across the care continuum

PHOENIX, AZ and AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS (Aug. 7, 2025) – Hopper OS, the configurable intelligent healthcare operating system powering performance, experiences, and outcomes across the care continuum, today announced its acquisition of Caro Health, a leading AI-powered digital health company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The acquisition represents a major step forward in Hopper OS’s strategy to build the most comprehensive global digital health platform for care delivery while expanding its growing European footprint.

Through this acquisition, Hopper OS strengthens its ability to deliver intelligent patient engagement and clinical workflow automation across its expanding digital ecosystem. Caro Health’s conversational AI platform enables healthcare organizations to seamlessly communicate with patients, automate operational workflows, and transform how clinical and administrative teams interact with data and patients throughout the care journey.

Dr. Tom Harte, President of Hopper OS, emphasized the strategic importance of Caro’s technology and its role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery.

“Caro has taken a thoughtful and practical approach to integrating conversational AI into complex clinical workflows,” said Dr. Harte. “Their team has demonstrated that when advanced technology is developed alongside physicians and healthcare operators, AI can meaningfully enhance both the patient experience and the operational performance of care teams. By combining Caro’s capabilities with Hopper OS’s deep clinical expertise and digital infrastructure, we are accelerating the development of a more intelligent and connected healthcare ecosystem.”

Founded in 2019, Caro Health has quickly emerged as a European leader in conversational AI for healthcare. Its proprietary platform enables healthcare providers to deliver personalized, scalable communication with patients while providing clinicians and administrators with intelligent tools that simplify workflows and improve operational visibility. The technology is currently deployed across nearly 40 healthcare organizations throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, supporting multiple specialties including orthopedics and other musculoskeletal subspecialties.

The acquisition builds upon Hopper OS’s broader digital strategy of integrating advanced AI technologies into its growing suite of proprietary technology and partner solutions, including Hopper Insights, Hopper Patient Management, EMR Ecosystem, and the cloud-based infrastructure platform serving physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and health systems worldwide. Caro’s conversational AI capabilities will further augment these products, enabling more personalized patient engagement, automated communication workflows, and enhanced clinical decision support.

Thomas Goijarts, Co-founder and CEO of Caro Health, highlighted the alignment between the two organizations and the opportunity to expand the company’s impact globally.

“Our partnership with Hopper OS enables us to accelerate our technology development and deliver intelligent, personalized healthcare communication at a global scale,” said Goijarts. “By combining Caro’s AI expertise with Hopper OS’s clinical leadership and digital platform, we can better serve healthcare providers across Europe while expanding into new markets. We are excited to join the Hopper OS team and bring the success we’ve achieved in Europe to healthcare organizations in the United States and beyond.”

As part of the acquisition, Goijarts will serve as SVP Product at Hopper OS, reporting to Hopper OS’s CEO. Caro co-founder Guusje van der Heijden will lead customer success and delivery across Europe, supporting both Caro’s existing clients and Hopper OS’s growing European customer base. Hopper OS plans to expand its European presence by investing in additional resources and partnerships to accelerate international growth.

With strategic partnerships across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe, Hopper OS continues to expand its global digital platform designed to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient experiences, and reduce the total cost of care. The acquisition of Caro Health further strengthens Hopper OS’s ability to integrate artificial intelligence into care delivery while supporting healthcare organizations with scalable, data-driven digital infrastructure.
